Waiting on the Christmas Stork

We had another appointment today. Happy to report that everything looks good. The excitement from earlier this week is subsiding. It looks like this is going to be a slow ride, relativley speaking.

All of this waiting around reminds me of the Christmas seasons of long ago. When I was a kid this was the slowwwwwest month of the year. Waiting. Flipping through the Sears catalog every night. Waiting. Writing and re-writing letters to St. Nick, each one pleading a case for both more forgiveness and Star Wars action figures. Waiting. Hoping for snow to make it seem real. Waiting. Looking out for elves (and a little sister) who'd spy on my bad behavior. Waiting. The fat guy in the red suit, his cadre of flying beasts and his overstuffed sleigh could not come clattering down on the roof soon enough...

This year, the Stork is the one who's taking too long, transforming an otherwise lovely December into a bus stop on a frigid night. Waiting. Maybe I should have written the Stork a letter... I'd trade in all those Luke Skywalkers for a visit from that beaked angel tonight.

Hey, at least it snowed this week. : )

Sarah, your daughter is just beautiful! She is going to be beautiful inside as well since her mother has more inner beauty than one can imagine! We will be praying for a safe, fast, and solid delivery...soon. ;-)
And, when everyone tells you to "get some sleep now before you have the baby"...you have my permission to kick them. You can't have any sleep when they are kicking from within and you can't even move in the BED. ;-)
Much love, Heidi and family
